Wateree Animal Hospital is hosting a low cost rabies clinic in response to some recent news. Three Kershaw county residents are currently undergoing treatment after being scratched by a kitten found underneath their vehicle. The kitten tested positive for rabies. Wateree Animal Hospital is stepping in to help the members of our community stay protected by providing low cost rabies vaccines on July 9th. Bow Wow Backyard Sale

A great event will be taking place  at Wateree Animal Hospital-Elgin on March 26, 2011 from 7am until 3pm. In addition to the Rabies Clinic, a fund raiser for Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter will be underway. Both the Camden and Elgin hospitals will be collecting donated items until 6pm on March 25th.  We will price all donated items and re-sell them. All proceeds will go to Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter. We need all the help we can get collecting great donations. Anything not sold and can’t be used by the shelter will be donated to Goodwill. There will be food as well as some fantastic animals from Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter looking for a forever family. We can’t wait to see everyone there!

A special thanks to the greater Columbia area for helping us make this a great success! Remember, donations can be brought to both Camden and Elgin hospitals. Call Wateree Animal Hospital-Elgin for more information at 803-438-7667.

Rabies Clinic 2011

Every year in South Carolina, as many as 400 people have to undergo preventive medical treatment because they were bitten by a pet or wild animal confirmed or suspected of having rabies. There’s no cure and anyone who gets the disease dies.

You can protect yourself and others by having your dog or cat vaccinated against rabies at one of two special DHEC clinics this spring being held at both Wateree Animal Hospital locations. The rabies vaccine costs only $7.00.
